A freight broker is an intermediary between a customer who needs to ship goods and transport service providers, such as couriers, freight forwarders, carriers or logistics companies.
The main role of a freight broker is to facilitate and coordinate the transport of goods on behalf of the customer.
This means that the freight broker is responsible for organizing the collection of the goods, checking the necessary documentation, selecting the most suitable courier or transport service, monitoring the shipment’s status and ensuring that the goods are delivered safely and on time to the final recipient.
The transport of certain goods is subject to strict regulations both nationally and internationally, depending on the specific transport mode.
X-OFFICE is committed to carefully comply the agreements and directives in force to ensure the safety of people, goods and the environment during shipment.
The following is a list of goods that cannot be transported.
- Complete weapons, ammunition, explosives, blasting devices, including inert explosives or test items, air weapons, replicas or imitations of firearms and ammunition.
- Valid banknotes and coins, traveler’s cheques and activated credit cards.
- Illegal goods, such as illicit drugs and cannabis products.
- Counterfeit goods that infringe intellectual property rights (IPR).
- Goods prohibited by federal, state or local government laws, regulations or statutes of any country through which the shipment should be transported.
- Precious metals in ingot.
- Animal parts, including hunting trophies, ivory and shark fins, animal by-products or derivative products not intended for human consumption, which are prohibited by the CITES Convention or local laws.
- Human remains or ashes.
- All precious and semi-precious stones, cut or uncut, polished or unpolished.
- All live animals.
These restrictions are set in the sole interest of the customer and are intended to ensure safety and compliance with regulations when transporting goods.
Below is a list of goods whose shipment is subject to restrictions. It includes valuable items, special items and goods subject to specific regulations. Our priority is to ensure the security and integrity of your shipment.
- Tax seal strips or labels with a shipping value exceeding 500,000 Euro.
- Lithium batteries.
- Jewelry and watches with single values exceeding €5,000 and a maximum approval value of €10,000.
- Coins, commemorative medals or high-value collector’s items with a value exceeding €2,000.
- Artworks or antiques with a value exceeding 500 Euro.
- Toy guns, weapons components, firearm accessories, ammunition parts, tasers or controlled military items.
- Financial and monetary products such as activated SIM cards, gift cards, event tickets, with a value exceeding €500,000.
- Perfumes, aftershave, aerosols, flammable substances, dry ice, biological substances and other goods classified as dangerous according to IATA, ADR or IMDG regulations.
- Cigarettes, cigars, tobacco products and electronic cigarettes or their accessories with a shipping value exceeding EUR 500,000.
- Hunting trophies and animal skins not intended for human consumption.

The transport of foodstuffs is subject to national and international regulations that set out the conditions for shipping and receiving such products.
The shipment of highly perishable foodstuffs is not allowed, in particular: milk and milk-based drinks/creams, ice cream, fresh cheese (e.g., mozzarella, stracchino, ricotta), butter, blood for protein production, fresh meat and offal, eggs, fresh fish products, edible mollusks (e.g., oysters, clams).molluschi eduli (es: ostriche, vongole).
These foods, on the other hand, can only be shipped to Italy and within the borders of the European Union, with a maximum transport time of 72 hours: hams, whole raw sausages or packaged in cuts; semi-mature soft cheeses; gourmet pasta.
